You need cross-functional capacity now. One AI engineer can’t be the AI specialist plus the frontend plus the devops plus the product thinker. A pod configuration gives you all of that without the four-hire timeline and four-offer negotiation.
You need an exit option. Agency engagements are terminable. If your product direction pivots significantly, you restructure the engagement. You don’t have a severance conversation.
