AI Development for EdTech: Built by EdTech Operators

Kalvium Labs is itself a product of Kalvium, India's first AI-native engineering program. We don't just build AI for EdTech clients. We operate an EdTech product at scale every day. Three production case studies. Three founders with direct operator backgrounds.

Below: the three EdTech systems we ship most often (assessment platforms, coding-evaluation infrastructure, AI course content), the operator credibility behind each, real production numbers, and how to know if your build fits our depth.

The founders who actually built EdTech before

Most AI dev shops are domain-blind. EdTech is the one vertical where we have an unfair advantage. All three co-founders have direct operator backgrounds in EdTech. The case studies on this page didn't happen by accident.

Co-founder · Strategy

Venkat

Ex-FACE Prep. Ran one of India's major test prep / employability EdTech companies for years before co-founding Kalvium Labs. Knows EdTech buyer psychology, content design, assessment architecture, and student engagement from inside the operator's chair.

Co-founder · CTO

Anil

Ex-HackerRank, ex-Google. Built coding-assessment / coding-evaluation infrastructure at one of the most respected names in that exact category. The custom compiler engine in our coding-assessment case study came directly from that experience.

Co-founder · CEO

Rajesh

CEO of Kalvium — India's first AI-native engineering program (founded 2021). 18 years of tech × employability experience. 3-time founder. The parent company that Kalvium Labs is itself a product of.

The three EdTech systems we ship most often

Most EdTech founders come to us with one of three buy-vs-build questions. We have a verified case study on each. Click through for the full architecture and outcomes.

Who we build for

We're best fit for B2B EdTech founders building real product, not classroom-management tools. If two or more of these describe you, we're a strong match.

EdTech founders adding AI features post-Series A

You have a working B2B EdTech platform and customers asking for AI-powered features. You need engineering depth, not advice.

Test prep / employability companies scaling content

Your content team is the bottleneck. Course development cycles are weeks. You want a 95% reduction without losing quality control.

Assessment platforms scaling for exam-day traffic

Your platform falls over on launch day or exam day. You need multi-tenant infrastructure that handles 100K+ concurrent users on demand.

Coding bootcamps + coding-assessment platforms

You need real-time code execution, sandboxing, deterministic grading. Anil built this at HackerRank. We've shipped it again at our coding-assessment client.

EdTech operators with engineer-shaped pain

You know what to build. You don't have an engineering team that understands EdTech. We do.

B2B EdTech in India, US, or the Gulf

EdTech buyers in our markets. We do not chase US K-12 districts or FERPA-regulated procurement; that's a different business.

What we don't do (and will tell you on the call)

Saying yes to everything is the fastest way to ruin an EdTech project. Here's where we'd point you elsewhere.

FERPA / US K-12 state procurement

We have no US K-12 client. The compliance, sales motion, and review cycles are a different business than ours.

Deep LMS integration at scale

Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard at enterprise scale isn't our verified depth. We can do basic LTI integration; we won't claim more.

Personalised learning paths

Adaptive learning, knowledge tracing, curriculum personalisation at scale is a research-heavy domain. We've shipped assessment, not personalisation.

Consumer EdTech apps

B2C engagement, gamification psychology, and viral acquisition motions are different muscles. We serve B2B EdTech providers and platforms.

Common questions

How much does it cost to build EdTech AI?

An assessment-platform MVP runs $15,000-$30,000 fixed-bid. An AI course content pipeline runs $20,000-$40,000. Coding-evaluation infrastructure with a custom compiler runs $25,000-$50,000. Smaller scoped builds start at $5,000. We always start with a 72-hour prototype before quoting.

How long does an EdTech AI build take?

Our last assessment-platform MVP was kickoff to production in 3 weeks. AI course content pipelines typically take 4-6 weeks. Coding-evaluation infrastructure (with the compiler engine) takes 6-10 weeks. Every project starts with a 72-hour prototype.

What makes Kalvium Labs different from a generic AI dev shop for EdTech?

Three things. (1) Three production EdTech case studies on disk, more than any other industry we serve. (2) All three founders are EdTech operators: Venkat ran FACE Prep, Anil was at HackerRank, Rajesh is CEO of Kalvium. (3) Our parent company is itself an EdTech product. We operate at scale, we don't just consult on it.

Can we use your engineers for ongoing EdTech work, not just one project?

Yes. Our dedicated-pod model gives you one full-time-equivalent engineer (or a fractional team across AI + frontend + backend) at $1,999-$2,999 per month, including fractional PM time and CTO review. EdTech founders often start with a fixed-bid project and roll into a pod for ongoing iteration.

Will you sign an NDA before the discovery call?

Yes, on request. We sign a mutual NDA before any specifics are shared. Most EdTech founders don't ask for one until call two; the discovery call itself is high-level enough that we usually don't need it. Either way, your call is confidential.

Talk to an EdTech operator about your build

30-minute call with a founder who's been on your side of the table. Tell us your build, we'll tell you whether we can prototype it in 72 hours and what it would actually cost.

Usually reply within hours, max 12.
